The residents of the Florida Keys need no excuse for a party, but if one exists they'll definitely still take it, and when Independence Day rolls around then this part of the world throws some of the biggest July 4th parties you'll see anywhere.

Most popular events in the area typically include the fireworks at Key West, the Key Lime festival, the Key Largo 4th July parade and picnic, Marathon beach party and fireworks show and the Independence Day celebration at Founders Park in Islamorada.

Event schedule

Marathon Beach party and fireworks show - parade at 10am, later fireworks at Sombrero Beach.

Key Largo Parade (Celebrating Freedom) - starts at 9.45am. Later in the evening you will have the Blackwater Sound Fireworks Celebrations at Rowell's Waterfront Park with fireworks scheduled for 9.45pm.

Islamorada Fireworks at Gulfside, Founders Park. Celebration from 6 - 10pm.

Key West fireworks and Patriotic Party - By the Edward B Knight Pier, festivities starting at 7pm with fireworks around 9pm. Best viewing spots include Smathers Beach and Higgs Beach. Or maybe consider a cruise to get out on the water for a guaranteeed uninterrupted view.

Sietsta Key 4th July Celebration and Fireworks - 6pm - 9.30pm (fireworks at dusk)
