Mount Rushmore Independence Day Fireworks 2023

Mount Rushmore has been, in the past, the site for one of the most watched July 4th firework shows but they were abruptly halted back in 2009 due to the elevated risk of wildfires that could be instigated by the pyrotechnics.

It looks like that ban is going to continue into the future and no fireworks displays are due to be held any time soon within the park. It will be open for the 4th of July for those who would like to visit and if you do want to see some fireworks, you'll be able to catch some display in the surrounding communities.

Fireworks Schedule

There are no firework displays scheduled for 2023 at Mount Rushmore. But if you are in the area, then don't miss out on Custer's Old Time Country Fourth of July Celebration. There's a Flyover, Kids and Patriots Parade in Downtown Custer from 10am, an Arts & Crafts Fair 10am - 6pm at Courthouse Museum, Flag Ceremonies from 11am at Veterans Memorial Park, a Kids fair from 11am - 4pm at Way Park and there will be fireworks at dusk at Pageant Hill.
