New York St Patrick's Day Parade
The Big Bay Boom is a huge annual event in San Diego, with the 4th July Independence Day fireworks display bringing the locals out in huge numbers for a day long street party and festival that culminates in the spectacular pyrotechnics display over the bay that is the largest fireworks show anywhere in Southern California.
Now that there are no longer official fireworks on new year's eve in San Diego, the Big Bay Boom really is your best chance to see such a spectacular display in this part of the world.
The Big Bay Boom in San Diego sees fireworks being launched from 4 barges in different locations along the bay shoreline, providing a fantastic co-ordinated display that can be seen for miles around.
The display gets underway at 9pm.
The fireworks start at 9pm, and the best viewing points will be from:
Shelter Island
Harbor Island
Embarcadero
Seaport Village
/ Coronado Landing
Imperial Beach Pier
There is also a fireworks display at Seaworld San Diego, starting at 9.30pm.
One of the very best ways to view the fireworks and be guaranteed an uninterrupted vantage point is to take one of the 4th July cruises on San Diego Bay and make an evening of it with music, food and dancing too - some recommendations for cruises are here:
