New York St Patrick's Day Parade
Bonfire Night in the UK is always a highlight of the early winter months, with warming bonfires across the country attracting large crowds of families to celebrate the successful foiling of Guy Fawkes and his gunpowder plot way back in the early 17th Century.
The plot is an iconic moment in British history and ensures that the date of the 5th November is always remembered by people across the country, and enduringly popular with children in particular.
The fireworks that accompany the bonfire help to keep the crowds entertained, while the culmination of each event is the burning of the Guy, Mr Fawkes immolated every year in effigy form.
It would be impossible to cover all of the bonfires and fireworks displays, so here we've concentrated on the big displays in London. There will be large bonfires and fireworks at the following locations:
Alexandra Palace
Wimbledon Park
Battersea Park
Bishop's
Park
Crystal Palace Park
Morden Park
Kempton Park Racecourse
Chiswick
Park
Kingsmeadow Stadium
Southwark Park
Check the dates before attending any event as where the 5th November doesn't fall on a weekend the displays can be moved to a more convenient night.

The best place to find any coverage of the bonfire night fireworks is probably via the BBC News channel, which usually sends reporters to the big displays and provides highlights of the best ones:

There are also a large number of live webcams in key locations
around the city, which can be good for catyching some fireworks,
especially on those with a skyline view:

November is one of the more reasonable times of year to visit London, after the warmer summer months and before the festive period gets underway. It's still relatively expensive though so as always we recommend booking in advance if you're planning on visiting to watch the fireworks.
