Crufts is internationally renowned as the gold standard in dog shows, and probably the best known such event anywhere in the world. With 18,000 dogs competing, the Championship showing competition is probably the best known aspect of Crufts, but the overall event also includes a large trade show of all things dog and pet related as well as a number of competitions in performing and obedience.

The most prestigious and coveted award that everyone will be competing for is the famous Best in Show, awarded at the climax of the event.

Crufts can actually trace it's origins way back to 1891, ,aking it not only the largest but also one of the oldest dog shows o be found anywhere. There has been criticism levelled at the show organisers by those who claim the breeding process involved in producing purebred dogs is detrimental to their health but this doesn't seem to do anything to compromise the popularity of the event.
