New York St Patrick's Day Parade
The Henley Royal Regatta, often known by the abbreviated title of
just HRR is another typically British summer event, normally takes place in
late June and early July each year, bringing large crowds to the picturesque
town of Henley-on-Thames each year since way back in 1839 to watch a
festival of river based boat racing and other nautical spectacles.
The 5 days of the regatta consist of a number of qualifying races across
a series of different events with categories covering different boat
sizes, men and women’s events as well as exhibition races. The final
day of the regatta is the most popular, seeing the main final races
being contested and the big prizes awarded to the winners. The Henley
Royal Regatta is very much a formal event and represents something of
a throwback to bygone days of Victorian ladies and gentlemen so you
can expect to see the full range of formal attire and traditional costumes
on display throughout.
The current course for the Henley
Royal Regatta is known as the straight course and covers the area from
Tempe Island to Phyllis Court over a distance of 1 mile 550 yards, or
2112 metres.
The Henley Royal Regatta in 2023 is scheduled for 27th June - 2nd July.

For spectators the Stewards Enclosure and Regatta Enclosure afford the best views, while members of the public tend to compete for the best vantage points along the Berkshire towpath side of the river.
In recent years the full Henley Royal Regatta has broadcast live
online for the via a live online stream on the event’s official Youtube
channel, with delayed footage provided where live coverage isn't available.

The finals day this year will also
be broadcast as a live stream on the event's official Facebook channel:
Henley-on-Thames is something of a pricey place to stay at the best of times and no more so than during the regatta so you will need to make reservations well in advance or possibly consider commuting to the event from a little further afield.
You can check availability and make reservations for local hotels here.
