The Sturgis motorcycle rally is an eponymous annual event held in the South Dakota town over a period of 10 full days. The event attracts huge crowds measured in the hundreds of thousands, and is of huge importance to the local economy, bringing in large numbers of tourist visitors each year.

The rally has been taking place since way back in 1938, and as such is one of the longet running events of this type anywhere in the world. The vent typically includes live music performances from some pretty big names as well as the motorcycle riding.

The 83rd Anniversary Rally is due to take place from 4th - 13th August 2023

Keep your eye open for the official opening ceremony parade on Main street at 2.30pm on 4th August. On Saturday 5th you've got the Mayor's Pub Crawl at 7pm at Harley Davidson Rally Point. Sunday 6th August sees the 1st Sunday in Sturgis Motorcycle show on 6th Street from 11am - 4pm. On Monday 7th there will be the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally 5k Race from 8am. Tuesday 8th is the VFW Military Appreciation Day from 2pm.

Hotels and Accommodation

Sturgis is obviously very busy throughout the period covered by the rally, so it is advisable to book your accommodation as far in advance as is practicable.
