Celebration of Light 2023

Live Stream, Webcams, Teams, Schedule from English Bay, Vancouver, BC

Vancouver Celebration of Light

The Celebration of Light, held annually at English Bay in Vancouver and currently officially known under sponsorship as the Honda Celebration of Light, is a musical fireworks competition that has been taking place since 1990, making it one of the longest running, and certainly most popular, fireworks competitions anywhere in the world.

The shore front location of the event makes for large scale viewing by huge crowds, and viewing numbers across the 3 days of the event are estimated at up to 1.5 million.

The Celebration of Light consists of 3 nights of fireworks displays across 3 dates spread over a week in late July and involving 3 competing countries, one of which is usually the USA or Canada to help maintain a little more local interest! The weather is usually decent at this time of year, but always a little unpredictable, but the displays do go ahead regardless of the climatic conditions. Each display lasts 25 minutes and is judged by a panel of experts, sponsors and celebrities.

Dates

The dates of the Honda Celebration of Light in 2023 will be 22nd, 26th and 29th July 2023.

Hotels and Accommodation

Vancouver in July is a lovely city to visit, with plenty of sunny days and warm temperatures that tend not to get too hot thanks to the city's northern location. Accommodation prices are reasonable too, especially in comparison with many of the larger US cities.

You can check availability and make reservations for local hotels here.
