It's finally back for 2023, Invictus Games Dusseldorf will return
this September, with 500 military competitors from 20 nations and 10 sporting events,
creating one
epic Invictus Games!!
This is an international Paralympic
style competition which was created by Prince Harry in 2014 for Wounded
Warriors after he had seen the US Warrior Games in Colorado 2013. His
aim was to "demonstrate the power of sport to inspire recovery,
support rehabilitation and demonstrate life beyond disability"
and also to ensure that those injured troops are not forgotten.
The very first Invictus Games included competitors from the UK, Aunited
States, Germany, France, Canada, Australia, Denmark, Afghanistan and
New Zealand
The competitors, who are all wounded, sick
or injured are from the Armed forces or associated veterans. They will
compete in games including Archery, Table Tennis, Indoor Rowing,
Powerlifting, Road Cycling, Sitting Volleyball, Swimming, Track and
Field, Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Rugby and Wheelchair Tennis.
2023 Invictus Games will be held between 9th and 16th September at the Merkur Spiel - Arena in Dusseldorf.
