New York St Patrick's Day Parade
There aren't many major music festivals taking place in a location so close to a major metropolitan area, so it is the proximity to New York City that normally makes this event unique. The event used to be held at Randall's Island park, just off the coast of Manhattan, but this year we see the Governors Ball move to Flushing Meadows, Corona Park, but never fear, it won't change the huge crowds that turn out for a fabulous festival occasion.
The transport across from the city was a major logistical undertaking, while the lack of accommodation on the island itself means the city's hotels and guest houses also benefit from something of an additional out of season boom. With the new venue you can hop on the 7 train or the LIRR.
Taking place since 2011 and with an extensive lineup of top performers and big name acts that are now spread over a 3 day event, the Governors Ball brings crowds measured in the tens of thousands.
The Governors Ball 2023 will be held at Flushing Meadows, Corona Park, New York City, from Friday 9th June through to Sunday 11th June.
Lineup for 2023 includes:
Friday: Lizzo, Lil Uzi Vert, HAIM, DIPLO, Kim Petras, Metro Boomin, Ice Spice, Joey Bada$$, Eladio Carrion, 070 Shake, Remi Wolf, Tai Verdes, Saba, Alexander 23, PJ Morton, Michelle, Maxo Kream, Kaycyy, Matt Maltese, Awfbeat, School of Rock Queens
Saturday: Odesza, Lil Baby, Aespa, Rina Sawayama, Lauv, Oliver Tree, Finneas, Kenny Beats, Koffee, Snail Mail, Amber Mark, SYD, Suki Waterhouse, Kennyhoopla, Lovejoy, Evan Giia, Sarah Kinsley, Flipturn, The Amazons, Zolita
Sunday: Kendrick Lamar, Lil Nas X, Giveon, Sofi Tukker, Pusha T, Girl in Red Ari Lennox, Central Cee, Pinkpantheress, Black Midi, Sabrina Claudio, Phony PPL, Cat Burns, Maude Latour, Coast Contra, Charlie Burg, Ella Jane, Haiki Hands, Phatjazz, School of Rock Brooklyn

Given the space constraints there obviously isn't any festival accommodation on the island, but fortunately you're conveniently located right next to one of the most heavily hotel-populated regions in the world. Manhattan hotels are notoriously pricey but there are cheaper options to be had if you don't mind heading a little further out to areas such as Brooklyn, Queens or Jersey City.
You can check availability and make reservations for local hotels here.
