New York St Patrick's Day Parade
The McDowell Mountain Music Festival, commonly and thankfully commonly
abbreviated to MMMF, or more recently the even more punchy M3F is one
of the earliest festivals on the US annual calendar, thanks mainly to
the temperate climate in the Phoenix area of Arizona art this time of
year that makes not only an outdoor music festival, but actually camping
during it, a possibility that would exist in many other places.
The MMMF has been taking place each year since 2004 and is spread over
2 days over the weekend from Friday through
to Saturday. It has the happy distinction of being the only genuinely
100% non-profit music festival in Arizona and prides itself on its community
spirit, using the proceeds to benefit local charities and community
organisations such as the Phoenix Children's Hospital and UMOM New Day
Centers.
The opportunity to take in some big name acts
at a large scale festival while also doing some good is an opportunity
not to be missed, making the McDowell Mountain Music Festival one of
our top recommendations.
The next M3F will be held on 3 & 4 March 2023.
The full lineup for the M3F McDowell Mountain Music Festival includes:
Friday - Maggie Rogers, Polo & Pan, Quinn XCII, Ashe, Coin, Hayden James, Neil Frances, Becky Hill, Del Water Gap, Winston Surfshirt, Darius, Jim-E Stack, The Lagoons, St. Terrible, Veronica Everheart

Find the full lineup here.
We've not been able to track down any live streaming of this festival,
but will keep checking at least for some local radio coverage. There
are several videos from previous years festivals available, so as is
often the case Youtube may be one of the best chances you have of seeing
some of the performance, albeit after the event:

You can also keep up to date with the
very latest from the festival via their official social media channels:

Tickets for the MMMF are made available in a phased manner, making it cheaper to buy further in advance, so once you know you're definitely going then we recommend you snap your up as soon as you can. You can buy for a single day for Friday & Saturday or save by going for the 2 day pass.
A lot of visitors choose to embrace the camping that is for many a quintessential part of the festival experience, and at the McDowell Mountain festival site they provide a camping area both for RVs and more traditional tent-based campers. There aren't too many places that sleeping outdoors would be a viable option in March, but fortunately Arizona is blessed with the climate to make this a comfortable possibility. Get more details, including a site plan of the campground here.
If you prefer to survive in more comfort then there is of course a decent selection of hotels and guest houses in the area. You can check availability and make reservations for local hotels here.
