BBC Proms 2023

Live Stream, TV, Lineup, Tickets, Schedule

Royal Albert Hall London

This may seem like a strange inclusion in the music festival section of the site, but it's the category that I felt most fitted the bill, and to be honest it really is a music festival of sorts, possibly one of the oldest there actually is, having been taking place since way back in 1895!

For the uninitiated, The Proms, or the BBC Proms to give them their full title season is a series of classical music concerts that takes place in London's Royal Albert Hall throughout the summer, usually over 70 in all. Whereas the vast majority of these shows are almost exclusively the domain of the dedicated classical music and opera buffs the last night is renowned as a far more accessible event, bringing more popular strands of the genre to the masses.

With widespread national TV coverage and audience measured in the millions can be expected and it's always been an event I've enjoyed tuning in for, especially the latter stages where recognisable tunes like Land of Hope and Glory and my personal favourite Jerusalem are played. If you can't get there in person, sort yourself out some traditional British ales, maybe a glass of Pimms or two and prepare to sing along with gusto to your TV!

Festival Lineup

There is an element of individuality about each Last Night of The Proms, but the old classics will always remain part of the lineup, so expect Rule! Brittania, Land of Hope and Glory and of course Jerusalem as the evening draws to a close.

The Proms will run from 14th July to 9th September 2023 and the full schedule available here:
