The Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival has been taking place every year since 2004. In the earlier years the festival venue was the Clinton State Park at Lawrence, Kansas but it has latterly relocated to it's current home at Mulberry Mountain in Ozark.

The festival takes place over 4 days and features an eclectic mix of musical genres, with particular emphasis being afforded to Bluegrass, Country and Alternative Rock, as you would perhaps expect in this region of the United States.

In common with many of the more popular US summer festivals Wakarusa places great emphasis on the whole experience of the event and not just the music, so camping is an essential component, helping form a real community spirit alongside other popular activities such as yoga, swimming and hiking.

Sadly Wakarusa took the year off in 2016, we hope to see them return in 2017....

Social & Streaming

This is one festival that hasn't in previous years provided a live stream option, but we will be keeping our eyes open to see if that changes this year and provide any links we find right here. They do however have an official Youtube channel which features video action from previous years and probably represents your best chance of a catchup after the event:

Tickets

Tickets tend to sell out quickly, so it is advisable to secure yours as soon as possible. There are obviously decent discounts to be available if you can commit to the full 4 days of the event as opposed to the single day ticket options. Tickets are available online here:

Festival Accommodation

If you like camping then the campground at Wakarusa is one of the best around and makes for an excellent festival experience. There is also a sizeable RV park for those who like to bring their own accommodation on wheels. Camping tickets are sold separately to the main festival tickets, but are available using the same link as above.

For those who prefer more in the way of home comforts then there are some local hotels and guest houses available. You can check availability and make reservations for local hotels here.
