Barranquilla Carnival 2024

The Barranquilla Carnival, or Carnaval de Barranquilla as it is known locally, is a huge mardi gras style carnival event that takes place in the Colombia city of Baranquilla each year, at the same time as the Fat Tuesday mardi gras parades are taking place in the United States and around the world. The origins of this carnival can be traced right back to the 19th century.

The Barranquilla carnival is widely believed to be the second largest in the world, second only in size to the famous and iconic Rio Carnival, with an audience estimated at around 1.5 million taking to the city streets to celebrate and enjoy the carnival atmosphere. Main events are the corononation of the carnival Queen and King Momo, and the Grand Parade on the Sunday.

TV & Live Streaming

The main carnival events are usually broadcast live on TV by local channels in Colombia, so if you are in the country you'll have no problem being able to watch.
