New York St Patrick's Day Parade
Galveston in Texas is not a town you may be immediately familiar with, but it is in fact home to one of the largest annual mardi gras celebrations in the United States, attracting crowds measured in the hundreds of thousands out onto the streets for a series of events and parades.
There has been a mardi gras parade in Galveston under various guises since as far back as 1867. The mardi gras festival consists of a series of parades, including the popular Knights of Momus Grand Night Parade, in the weeks leading up to the main Fat Tuesday event, where the iconic parade is the Mystic Krewe of Aquarius Annual Fat Tuesday Parade, featuring a variety of floats and marching bands with appearances by local dignitaries and celebrities.
