Victory Day in Russia takes place each year to mark the end of the Second World War in 1945, the culmination of one of the largest conflicts the world has ever seen, and one in which the Russian state and people played such a key and pivotal part.

Leading the memorials is the enormous Victory Day parade in Moscow, with a display by the Russian military centred on the city's famous Red Square. There is typically also a speech by President Putin to the assembled crowds and those watching across the nation on TV or online. There will alos be a large scale fly past by the Russian airforce.

Other Russia cities also host their own event,, including St Petersburg, Vladivostock, Murmansk, Smolensk and Samara.

Date

Victory Day in Russia falls on the 9th May, and this is when the major parades take place across the country, including the iconic major parade in Moscow's Red Square, attended by the President and associated dignitaries.

TV & Live Streaming

There will be national TV coverage across Russia, but for those wishing to watch online there is usually a live stream option available as well.

If you're in Moscow for the Victory Day celebrations then there will be plenty of places to stay, and this is one of the more reasonable times of year price wise so the visit shouldn't be prohibitively expensive.
