The Indy 500, held in the United States, always draws in huge crowds of spectators to the famous venue at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and is watched by an audience of millions more on TV and via live stream online all across the US and indeed the world,

The Indy 500 is a sporting instituion in the USA, one of the most watched sporting events on the calendar, with people gathering around the televisions in homes and bars around the country to watch the big race live.

As is also typical of US sporting occasions, the actual race is only a small part of the event's attractions - the gates open several hours before the race even starts and crowds get there early to enjoy a plethora of pre-race entertainment, including large quantities of beer and the ubiquitous food offerings.

The Indy 500 this year will be racing on Sunday 26th May 2024. This will be the 108th running of the race.

In the days and weeks leading up to the Indy 500 there are a number of additional events, including obviously all the practice and qualifying races.

This year the schedule includes:

15th - 16th May: Indianapolis 500 practice

17th May: Fast Friday

18th & 19th May: Qualification Days

20th May: Practice

24th May: Miller Lite Carb Day

25th May: Legends Day

26th May 2023 at 12.45pm - 108th running of the Indy 500 presented by Gainbridge

26th May 2023: Indianapolis 500 Snake Pit - Don't miss out on this EDM Festival, presented by Coors Light

TV & Live Streaming

NBC Sports are once again the main TV broadcaster, also available to watch as a live stream online, although please be aware that this will require an active cable subscription, while there is also live coverage vua Sky Sports in the UK and of course the live timing on the official IndyCar website - you can find all the live coverage here:
