There are actually 2 popular international marathon events in the city of Toronto each year, the Toronto Marathon in May and the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon in October, so in the interests of avoiding confusion about which event is being talked about we've elected to include both here on the same page.
The Toronto Marathon was actually the original event, starting in 1977, although it has now been exceeded in both size and popularity by the Waterfront Marathon which has in excess of 26,000 athletes taking part, even though the latter didn't start until 2000. Both events also include a half marathon and a 5k race, with the Toronto marathon also now holding a 10k.
The Toronto Marathon 2023 will be held on Sunday 7th May starting at 7.30am starting at Yonge St and Sheppard Ave. Course map can be found here: Toronto Marathon 2023 and you can also keep up to date on their official Facebook Page
The Toronto Waterfront 2023 will be on Sunday 15th October. (There is also a virtual event available for those who can't make it in person - Toronto Waterfront Virtual 2023
All the race details and registration info can be found here: Toronto Waterfront Marathon 2023
The Waterfront marathon starts at 8.45am on University Avenue near Osgoode Hall and follows a largely coastal route along the sores of Lake Ontario before returning to finish in Nathan Phillips Square, almost back where it started.
There is an excellent interactive map of the full course route here:
There is also a half marathon and 5k race also included as part of the day's events.
There has been in recent years a live online stream providing coverage of the Waterfront marathon. Last year saw the event streamed on Canada Running Series Youtube, so may be a good place to start, it was also shown on CBC
For both Toronto marathon races you might like to check our some of the local live webcam
views, there are several streaming cameras in and around the city:
