This year's Tour de France will be the 110th racing of this great event, starting out this year from Bilbao in Spain, and ending of course on the famous Champs Elysees in the centre of Paris.

The Tour de France in particular appeals as I'm a big fan of endurance events, those that require athletes to really push beyond normal performance levels, and cycling over 3,300km in 21 days through mountainous terrain certainly qualifies for that category, so I'll be watching with interest from now on I think, and maybe even add going to watch a stage or 2 to the bucket list for future holiday possibilities, especially if the scenery is going to be like the picture at the top of this page!

The Tour de France has increased in profile rapidly in recent years, and as a result is being picked up for live broadcast by more and more TV stations worldwide.

It will be shown on TV channels; ITV 4 and Eurosport 1
