World Cup Opening Ceremony 2018

Live Stream, Start Time, TV & Online Broadcasting

Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow, Russia, 14 June

World Cup football stadium

The 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia is one of the most eagerly anticipated events in years, with 32 nations from 5 confederations competing in the tournament.

The Opening ceremony that gets the World Cup underway will be watched eagerly by a global audience on many hundreds of millions, and the Russians will be keen to put on a spectacular display to match those that have come before.

The World Cup opening ceremony doesn't hold quite the same cachet and prestige as the Olympic equivalent - it takes place on the night of the opening game for a start, rather than being a standalone event in it's own right, so there's no pressure on to sell tickets - they already have a captive audience!

Event Details

There aren't always too many details on the nature of the World Cup opening ceremony available in advance, but we will be keeping an eye out for any advance news and hints as to what to expect.

TV & Live Streaming

There will be a wide range of TV and online coverage of this event - the beauty of the world cup is that it is available free to air in most countries so getting to watch it shouldn't be a problem.

You can watch the live stream of the opening ceremony here:

To watch the games on TV, the excellent Live on Sat website has full details of which channels are broadcasting this worldwide - many of these will also have an online streaming option, and I would imagine most would carry the opening ceremony too:
